Hinckley Pilot 35

Sailing Yachts

Recently had AC installed and yard ran condensation line to gray tank.  Always assumed that sump pump drains the gray tank but yard indicates this is not correct.  Sump pump does drain the gray tank Right?

No need to respond. Ive spoken w/ my surveyor and question answered

Hi Carol,

were a new member to the pilot family and just getting an understanding of the systems aboard. your question is interesting. it seems our pilot should have a sump but aside from under the middle water tank (ive not pulled this for a look) there is no sump?

could you pass along what ever info you have discovered regarding this?

thank you,

Charles

Hi Charles,

I’m no great source of wisdom regarding the 35.  I do know that Bijou (1966) has a sump pump which I thought was fairly standard on the 35. My ice box , shower etc drain to the gray tank which the sump pump discharges.  I would think you’d have one unless all your drainage goes to the bilge.

hi Carol,

where is the grey water tank located on your pilot?

the only place one could be on  "High Tide" (EDEL) is under the water tank in the main salon.

thanks for the info

Charles

Charles,

Not sure of exact location but can ask my surveyor if you wish.  Would your surveyor not be able to answer this question. If not I can ask my guy.  He's located up at Southwest harbor.  Just let me know

On Liberty the grey tank is located under the water tank in main salon. Shower drain and icebox/frig drain into it. Sump pump pumps it out. My AC drains directly into bilge.

Jim, thanks for the info. I'll be pulling the salon water tank and sorting out the sump
