"have considered this for Edel, our pilot yawl. spartan marine makes ports that look to be a good option. "

Congratulations, Charles, on your acquisition of HIGH TIDE, Pilot #3560, launched in 1966.  She is a wonderful example of the Pilot Class.  The book Pilot 35 was published in May, 1984, over thirty years ago, and is, thus, considerably out of date. This website is intended to, and does, bring information regarding the Pilot Class up to date.  Copies of the book are no longer available.  Your Pilot was first launched in Southwest Harbor, ME, in the spring of 1966 with the original name EDEL, a U.S documented vessel with a hailing port of Mt. Desert (Maine).  Original topsides color was "Granada Gray" with "Cloud Gray" deck pattern and cabin top. She is, of course, a yawl, one of the 25 fiberglass Pilot yawls built by Hinckley between 1963 and 1975. In order to equate the sail area of the Pilot sloop and yawl, Sparkman & Stephens cut six inches off the truck of the mast of the yawl and mounted it six inches forward (notice the deck step plate on your boat). This reduced the "J" measurement of the foresail to allow for the extra sail area of the mizzen.

Here's wishing you the best for fair winds and following seas.
