Sailing Yachts
Jupiter is a Chilean Pilot built in 1966. Her first owner sailed her to Los Angeles in 1973 when the politics changed in Chile. There she was sold and moved to San Francisco where I purchased her from Rob Gagnon in 1995, the third or forth owner, I believe. I had her trucked to Milwaukee, where I spent a year on a complete refit. I've used her for day sailing, cruising and distance racing on Lake Michigan. She has a distinguished racing record on Lake Michigan having podium finishes in many races. In 2001, she won overall in the prestigious Queens Cup race, a 70 mile overnight race across the lake, correcting over 180 boats from Santa Cruz 70s on down. She won her division in other Queens Cups and Hook races, the latter a 200 mile race north on Lake Michigan. Last year I replaced the original Perkins 4-107 with a Beta 30. I have all the original blueprints and invoices for materials (in Spanish) as well as some customs paperwork from a stop in Acapulco on her trip north from Chile. She has been Jupiter since her original launch. I'll post some pictures including one taken in Chile many years ago.
