Hinckley Pilot 35

Sailing Yachts

Last September I bought a 1967 Pilot and am in the midst of a winter refit.  I am thinking to upgrade my (original) traveler to the Harken windward sheeting system.

I'm thinking I should go with the midrange (27mm)  r27 track and high load car.

Does anyone have experience with upgrading travelers? I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Hi Geoffrey,

Have you made a decision on your traveller update? Gygax has a more recent traveller car on what looks to be the original track. I can grab a photo when I am next at the boat.

Hi Warren,

I did go ahead with ordering the new traveler track and car.  I ended up going with the Harken 27mm low-beam track; high-load version of the midrange windward sheeting car, and the double sheaved end-stops.

I just received it; and won't be installing it for a while -- I'm in the middle of having the deck repainted.

I'd would be interested to see what yours looks like if you have a chance to share a photo.

Thanks,

Geoff

Hi Geoff and Warren - I have been thinking about upgrading the traveler on Black Watch and would be curious to see any pictures you may have.  Specifically, I've been trying to identify different rigging options for the main sheet/traveler, which is currently aft of the cockpit.  It seems like the most logical location, but would like to learn if anyone has considered other possibilities.

Thank you,

steve
